Mia is a Rose-Breasted Cockatoo or commonly known as a Galah. They are native to Australia as are the Cockatiels. The Galah is one of the

quietest of the Cockatoo species but can be loud if they please. Mia is a very, very smart girl who can learn things very fast. She can talk up a

storm but only if she wants to. Galahs are very affectionate, sensitive creatures and very, very beautiful.

Unlike the other parrots Galahs must have a strict diet as they are prone to obessity which can lead to fatty tumors. Mia needs a lot of

excercise, has lots of playtime and she sure loves to play! In Australia the Galahs are seen only as pests to the farmers as they ruin their crops.

In Certain areas they actually have licenses to shoot the flocks of galahs, which I think is really a sad and terrible thing. Can you imagine waking up to see a

little or huge flock of galahs in your own back or front yard! I would absolutely Love that.

Galahs are known to live on golf courses and parks.

(no wonder dad loves Mia! lol)

Hope you enjoy Mia's pictures... My little Pink Pigeon.

"Exercising with Mia"

Yes Mia actually smiles when she is happy...and frowns when she is upset or mad

Checking the place out for safety..good idea Mia! Pretty far down there Mia.

Now it is time for stretching. Always a good thing to do before excercise.

I start with my chin ups of course.

Galahs Love to climb all over the place. They steady themselves with their beaks first. If they do it on your arm Boy do you feel it! Even if they are being careful not to hurt you...sometimes it feels like a nail has pierced your muscle. Mia is Super good with this as she has learned how much hurts me. She is so very careful now not to hurt me.

She really loves me and that is really cool.

and hang upside down alot! Mia is Always doing this. It is not uncommon to find her on a one of many toys hanging upside down.

It's a cockatoo thing says Mia!

That's right Mom! Watch this....

Mia will be having a Birthday in August!

Such a Happy Little Galah!

Galahs are Very intelligent and understand much more than we give them credit for. They have a great perception of your feelings and they know Exactly what you are saying. It is very important to be very careful of the language you use or what you say around them as it is with all talking parrots. They are without a doubt very smart birds although they can be very easily tricked and also can be taught tricks! They are like three to five year olds most of the time. They should never be left unattended when outside the cage as you can see here they easily get into trouble. And watch very closely for chewing on furniture, wires, cords, etc. It only takes seconds. They are quite fast at times!

What? I didn't do it anything          Uh Oh, he he
